Why I Stopped Putting Grades on Papers

Ashli Black has been an advocate for offering feedback to students without grades. Her video, "Why I Stopped Putting Grades on Papers" sparked a vibrant discussion among teachers about the feasibility and value of returning student work without grades. The video partly drew on work done at PCMI and from Dylan Wiliam and Paul Black, including their Phi Delta Kappan article, Working Inside the Black Box.

Influence

At the 2015 NCTM Annual Meeting Black teamed with Tina Cardone to present "Nix the Tricks" to a standing-room-only audience.
