Denisse R. Thompson is professor emerita of mathematics education at the University of South Florida, Tampa.

Academic Background

Thompson earned her Ph.D. at the University of Chicago in 1992 as an advisee of Zalman Usiskin.

Professional Career

Thompson was very active throughout her career as an author and editor, writing in professional journals, practitioner journals, and serving as the monograph series editor for the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators from 2005-2008. She was also the Director of Evaluation for the secondary books of the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project. She also served as the president of the Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics from 2008-2009. Thompson was awarded emeritus professor status in 2015 upon her retirement.
